Video Diary, May 2026

A recording from Lisa Fransson's live video

From now on I’m doing these video diaries live on Substack, simply because it’s a much more direct route to creating these posts. This morning I hopped on unscheduled as I’ve been too busy with work to plan anything, but in the future, for as long as the work situation permit, I will be scheduling them.

In this series I talk about what I’ve been up to during the past month, about This Writing Life of mine as well as give tips and inspiration on how to keep going in the face of the sort of adversity that all but a handful of writers and artists are faced with in what seems to be an ever narrowing and risk-averse industry.

Basically, this is my way of letting you know you’re not alone.

The weekly newsletter has changed to being fortnightly rather than weekly (but still free) newsletter to allow for time to write monthly historical essays as a perk for paying subscribers. These essays deal with topics and historical figures relating to my work-in-progress. If you’re an existing subscriber who’d like access to these essays as well as these monthly video diaries you can upgrade to a paid subscription below.

This Writing Life is a reader supported publication and the paid subscriptions are an important part of my income. So if you like the stories I write, in Swedish or in English, please do consider becoming a paid subscriber as it will enable me to keep writing them.

But if you, like me, are needing to pinch the pennies and can’t afford a paid for subscription, then a click on the like button would be much appreciated. It will make the algorithm sit up and take notice, and in turn make my posts on Substack more visible and reach even more readers.

Much love to you all. 🥰

Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video! Join me for my next live video in the app.
